SEBI (Depositories and Participants) (Amendment) Regulations, 2020.

Securities and Exchange Board of India vide notification / Gazette id No. CG-MH-E-24022020-216336 issued dated 21^st February, 2020 and published dated 24^TH February 2020, has published Securities and Exchange Board of India (Depositories and Participants) (Amendment) Regulations, 2020. ṅ In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 30 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992 read with Section 25 of the Depositories Act, 1996 to amend the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Depositories and Participants) Regulations, 2018.

Ø    Applicability:

These rules shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

Ø  Crux:

In regulation 79, the following explanation shall be inserted after sub-regulation (12):–

“Explanation:-

For the purpose of these regulations, “pledge” includes re-pledge of securities for margin and/ or settlement obligations of the client or such other purposes as specified by the Board from time to time.”
